Why I Built Interpolitan Money

For Rishi Patel, Founder and CEO of Interpolitan Money, the idea behind the business began with a simple observation: as people's businesses, investments and wealth became more international, the financial infrastructure supporting them was not keeping pace.
The world became more international.
Financial infrastructure didn't.
International lives and businesses rarely fit neatly within one market.
A founder may build a business in the UK, operate across Europe and the Middle East, hold investments through separate structures and work with advisers in several jurisdictions. A family may have businesses, property and investments spread across different countries. An international company may collect revenue in one currency, pay suppliers in another and operate through multiple entities.
As that complexity increases, the financial infrastructure around it can become increasingly fragmented.
Different accounts. Different providers. Different currencies. Different advisers. Different jurisdictions.
Each may work perfectly well in isolation. The challenge comes when nobody is looking at how those pieces fit together.
That was the gap Rishi saw. Not a lack of financial products, but a lack of connected thinking around the way increasingly international clients operate.
Complexity shouldn't create uncertainty
As Rishi puts it:
“Money should create clarity and confidence, not anxiety.”
For us, that principle goes beyond making international payments or holding different currencies.
It means understanding the structure around the client.
Where do funds need to move? Which entities need accounts? Which jurisdictions are involved? Who needs authority to approve payments? Where might additional controls be required? And how might those requirements change as the client's business, investments or family interests evolve?
The more international someone's financial life becomes, the more fragmented the infrastructure around it can become.
Good financial infrastructure should reduce that fragmentation rather than add to it.
That means bringing greater visibility, accountability and structure to the way capital moves across borders, while recognising that no two clients are the same.
It also means thinking beyond the immediate transaction.
A payment may be simple. The structure around it often is not.
Building something more considered
Interpolitan Money was built around that idea. Today, we provide cross-border financial infrastructure for internationally active businesses, private clients and complex structures.
That can mean multi-currency accounts supporting operations across different markets. It can mean payments and foreign exchange across multiple currencies. For more complex requirements, it can also include controlled structures such as escrow and Third Party Managed Accounts.
But the individual capability is only part of the picture.
The bigger objective is to help clients build financial infrastructure that reflects how they operate, rather than forcing increasingly international requirements into structures that were never designed for them.
That philosophy has shaped Interpolitan from the beginning and continues to shape where we go next.
Following Rishi's recent recognition as Entrepreneur of the Year at The Apex Awards 2026, it felt like an appropriate moment to return to the question at the heart of the business.
Why build Interpolitan?
Because international complexity should not automatically mean financial fragmentation. As businesses, wealth and capital become increasingly global, the infrastructure supporting them needs to evolve too.
